Specialist Surgeon: Gastrointestinal, Liver, Pancreas and Gallbladder
Graduate of the University the Witwatersrand, completed a fellowship in Surgical Gastroenterology and 10 years experience in developing and working in the WDGMC transplant unit doing kidney and liver transplants. Training included 2 long periods overseas.
The first for junior surgical training at Guys and St Thomas’s in London 1999-2001. This was followed by a shorter sabbatical involving 3 months working at the Transplant Unit at The University Medical Centre in Omaha Nebraska in 2008.Furthermore the pursuit of HPB expertise involved visiting two premier HPB Centers in Europe. The Hopital Paul Bruix in Paris with Prof Rene Adam (premier Liver surgeon) and Prof Marcus Buchler in Heidelberg, Germany.
Currently she is developing The Centre of Digestive Diseases and Liver Health at the Netcare Rosebank Hospital and a second unit , An Hepatobilliary Unit at Life Glynnwood Hospital, Benoni.

Practice Ethos
Malignancies are managed within a multidisciplinary team. All surgery is carried out using the principles of enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS). Laparoscopic approach is favoured first.
